About Tyler Calabrese, PsyD

For the detailed list of my education & work experience, see LinkedIn          Here's some of my guiding beliefs that define me beyond the resume...

  • LinkedIn - Black Circle
  • Psychology is a vital science:  Aside from saving lives, I've seen the application of psychological knowledge benefit benign things (like where to put office signs).  I'm dedicated to tapping into current research and developments to inform all aspects of my practice.

  • Connection is crucial:  I'm in this field because I love working with others.  Most people, including my recent Lyft drivers, would say that about me.  Whether therapy or testing, my clients sense that I'm genuinely invested in helping them and that allows me to better know and aid them.

  • Family is important:  My family of origin - who roped me into joining the pasta business! -  instilled the importance of kin from the start.  I have 3 kids & being a father has been instrumental to my personal growth.    My years working in community mental health (like CCMS) & volunteering with NAMI-AAC taught me the importance of including family in treatment as well.

  • History matters to the future:  I'm an avid consumer of History (of both my family & the world) & know how the past influences the present.  In therapy, I use history only as a vehicle for changing the future.  By understanding how our thoughts and behaviors have cemented with time is the only way to alter them.

  • Meeting people where they're at:  Psychology is my passion and I try to enlighten others about it everywhere I can.  My dissertation research & field experience taught me that not everyone's up for traditional therapy, so I try to reach people in innovative ways (like art shows or open mic events).  I've also been serving as field test consultant for apps that aid in parenting, because technology should be an ally in efforts to help.
